Our client currently has an excellent opportunity for a Principal Infrastructure Systems Engineer in their Melville, NY location.

As an integral member of the Infrastructure Computer Services Team, you will integrate technologies to provide a foundation to deliver secure, custom business solutions to our worldwide user base enabling  the company the competitive advantage needed to drive toward our vision of clear global leadership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Minimum 8-10 years of experience with large scale IT environment (500+ servers).
•Proven, hands-on experience in systems engineering/administration of Linux Red Hat servers is critical.
•VMware enterprise-level experience planning and leading VMware migrations.
•Other applicable VMware experience, including:  optimizing VMware for utilization of SAN storage, configuring VMware clusters for ease of management, experience supporting VMware disaster recovery solutions, and large data migration efforts using Storage V-Motion, just to name a few.
•Experience in migrating large number of virtual servers to new SAN arrays without impacting users. 
•Hardware experience using HP preferred, but will consider those with Dell, IBM or Cisco UCS Blade Servers within a VMWare environment.
•Understanding of business continuance and disaster recovery architecture in large global enterprise
•Client and team relationship/interaction skills a must
•Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work as part of an “on-call” rotation

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
•Responsible for ensuring a stable and reliable server infrastructure (Linux & ESX), and for overseeing the build and deployment of machines to meet the operational demands of a fast growing infrastructure.
•This person must be a hands-on VMWare ESX technology expert and must be able to operate and help improve the existing incident, request, change, problem, and risk management processes.
•Provide technical leadership and guidance in the installation, configuration and implementation of VMware products and technologies.
•Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes. Analyzes capacity data, and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems. Coordinates with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes.
•Supports complex data/media recoverability through system backups and database archive operations. Plans, coordinates and directs appropriate level data recovery strategies.
•Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current. Oversees the maintenance of a library of system-supporting process and procedure.
•Seeking a talented individual with the interest and capability to drive operational processes to the next level.
•Day-to-day administration, operation, and support of our virtual platform infrastructure (VMware ESX environment)
•This person must be a hands-on VMWare ESX technology expert and must be able to operate and help improve the existing incident, request, change, problem, and risk management processes.
•This role includes 24x7 off-hours support responsibilities. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Engineering.
